G'day Jim,

Just a quick call to offer my congratulations on another stunning win at Maitland! The concours line-up for RV8's is becoming increasingly competitive, yet your car shone above them all!

Well Done!

Jeff

Guestbook Administrator's Comment:
HI Jeff,
Thank you for your entry and comment.
I put everything in to preparing my car and always start preparing weeks before each show. Some say I should get out and use my car more but this soon shows and you loose the just left the factory presentation. The outright win at the Nationals make everything worthwile. Since joining the Hunter MGCC I have enjoyed a real warm and freindly welcome everytime I show or attend a club outing.
The Hunter club is to be congratulated on the total package it offers all its members and the effort by yourself and your wife are much appreciated by the members.

Best Regards and Thanks
Jim Dolbel

You may recall that I posted a note on this website a couple of months ago telling you that I had aquired a green RV8 here in the Cayman Islands. Unfortunately, the Island was hit by a Category 5 Hurricane 2 months ago and my car (along with the other RV8 on Island) was swamped by seawater. As a result the car is going to need to undergo a complete restoration and I simply do not have the resources here to do it. I am in the process of finalising my insurance claim on the car and thereafter I expect that I will be able to buy the car back very cheaply (at a guess under US$2,000). I am willing to sell the car to anyone who wants to restore the car for exactly what I have to pay the insurance company and obviously they will need to pay for shipping off Island. Essentially, I am not looking to make any money off this, I just don't won't the car to be written off. Anyone who is interested can e-mail me at: [email protected].

I lived in Oxfordshire from 67-71 and owned numerous Brit Autos. TR250....MGCGT and brought home in 71 a 70 Midget that I bought at the factory in Abingdon before it closed. I love the look of the new MGF but from what I hear it will never make it over to this side of the pond.....BMW would be competing it with it's own Z3 etc. I wonder if there has ever been a LHD MGRV8 manufactured. I love this web site and thought someone here might know the answer to this and if so where I might find one. Florida has done away with emission inspections and it would be a lot easier to bring one in now than in the past ten years. Thanks for you time. What a wonderful web site. Been here all night.

Message for Terry Starkey - Terry - re: the creaking from the rear of your RV8 when you take up drive, I'd check that the rear axle U-bolts are tortqued up correctly. The U-bolts locate the rear axle on the springs and tend to bed in over time. You'll see that checking the tightness of these bolts is a reccomendation on the service schedule. Whilst you're at it, I'd also check that the other rear suspension bolts - torque control arms and rear shock mounting brackets are also tight. I had a similar problem with my car andf working through the rear suspension eliminated the creaking noise.

One of the best web sites covering the RV8 that I have ever seen. Wish you were located in the uk!! I could then bring my RV8 to you for servicing.

I recently became the proud owner of Steve Beales Le Mans green RV8 as advertised on the V8 register and have fulfilled a dream that started back in 1992 when I saw the RV8 at the Motor Show. I've still got the brochure! Has anyone experienced a creaking noise from the rear of the car when the drive is taken up? My garage reckons it's the bushes in the back axle tie rods which have become dry. Lubrication has helped but it's still there. I would appreciate some input from fellow burblers!
Other than that, the car is superb and I just love it to bits!
Salutations to my friend Peter Benns of Norwich who also has a Le Mans green car.

I've just collected my fully complianced RV8 and she goes like the clappers! Woodcote green looks mighty fine and a little time will be required to tidy up the upholstery and carpets. A tonneau cover would be handy.

I have owned RV8 1190 for the last three years and this site has been very useful. Very impressed with the new feel and glade to see that there is a world full of RV8 anorak's like me. I'm sure I'll hit the site many more times when I get five minutes away from completing the servicing.

PS Do all RV8's leak from the bell houseing?
