I have owned an Rv8 for 5years ,it has been in the Ellerslie Concours in the team event .This site was absolutely brillant in checking that it was original spec ,right down to the labels and also maintenance tips as minor things I do myself, retired engineers cant leave things alone when they are not right

Guestbook Administrator's Comment:
Hello Pete,
Thank you for your feedback it is always appreciated.
Yes, when it comes to Concours every little item is important in gaining maxium points.
So pleased you are having success with your Car in Concours. (Concours was always my main interest).

WHO HAS A HARDTOP FOR SALE ?

Guestbook Administrator's Comment:
Hi Mark,

I will email you the name of a friend in the UK. who may be able to give you the information he has.

Hardtops are very rare and next to impossible to obtain.

However every now and then one does come on the market and is snapped up very quickly, you just have to be lucky.

The hardtops were produced for a short time by a firm called Krafthaus. ( an example of the hard top can be seen on my website under RV8 Equipment )

Unfortunately the very small number of RV8's produced did not provide an economical project for any hardtop manufacturer.

Regards
Jim

Just having a few flashbacks while looking at the UK version of ebay. Saw a couple MG RV8"S for sale and thought only a few more years and I can own another one.

Sold my last one due to the real estate crash of 09 and still regretting it.
Enjoy your cars they're awsome!!!!

In 1995, I was MD of Diamond Rover MG in Hatfield, England and as soon as I knew of the launch of the RV8, I knew I had to buy one! I drove many of the factory demonstrators, K20MGR a few times, and placed my order for a LeMans Green car which was delivered to our dealership in May 95, and I registered the car M40 MGR around the same time, although sadly I do not have a record of the vin no in Thailand.
I loved the car, attending many MG shows and runs in the UK and France, and used the car extensively for publicity during the launch of the MGF at our dealership.
I owned the car until 2002, when I sold it to a friend in Devon with some 40,000 miles on the clock.
I now live in Thailand and am investigating the possibility of importing an RV8 to have in my garage here.
Good luck and congratulations on an excellent, informative site
John Chamberlain

Guestbook Administrator's Comment:
Hello John,
Thank you for your feedback and entry, always nice to hear from former owners.
A friend of mine in the UK has passed on some information concerning your previous LeMans Green Car.
John Bolt was the former (RV8 Historian with the V8 Register)and is a wealth of knowledge concerning RV8 Build Statics.
John has kindly supplied the following info.... LeMans Green....VIN 1243....Body No. 919.... Engine No. 48A0001099.... Reg. No.M40MGR (still) and now residing in Jersey Channel Island..

Here's hoping you soon have another RV8 in your Thailand garage.

Jim

Hi Stuart,
Welcome to RV8 Ownership, pleased to hear you have found the site so useful. Enjoy your purchase.
Re your personal inquiry concerning gearbox oil changes. May I suggest you have a look at RV8 Workshop Note 271 which explains the procedure.
The Complete set RV8 Workshop Notes on CD can be purchased from Victor Smith who runs the V8 Register in the UK. These Workshop Notes are very comprehensive and recommended to all RV8 Owners.
Best Regards
Jim

Excellent site , I wondered can anyone advise whether the Gaz shocks as sold by Brown and Gammons currently, are they any better or worse than Clive wheatly spax shocks. There is a big price difference . I am looking to upgrade my mgrv8
Cheers

Guestbook Administrator's Comment:
Hi Jim,

Sorry I can't comment on the Brown & Gammons shocks perhaps the V8 Register may be able to assist you with feedback.

However I have no complaints with the Clive Wheatley shocks or any of his other products.

Cheers Jim
