Comments: Very nice site, very informative. Although the car reminds me of an updated MGB (I had a '68), from what I have seen in pictures (since I cannot see one in the "flesh") it looks like a beautiful, well crafted automobile. I sure wish they had brought them to Canada. I would have loved to own one of these beauties.
Guestbook Administrator's Comment: Hi Ron, Thank you for your comment and yes the RV8 has much to remind you of your 1968 MGB. However the RV8 has been vastly improved since the days of the MGB. ( Modern drive chain, engine, transmision, performance & refinements etc.)
I believe the Canadian Regulations will now let the RV8 into Canada. This is now possible because the RV8 was manufactured over 15 years ago and thus allowing it to fall into a permitted imports category. I would love to see the RV8 make its way to Canada and into the hands of enthusiasts. ( USA already has 2 ). Regards Jim Dolbel

Comments: I was thumbing through a 'classic and sportscars" dated May 1994 and there was an article entitled A WEEK WITH ROVERS NEW RAGTOP"written by JON PRESSNELL,at the weeks end he was sorry to see it go!Not a bad endorsment even way back then
Guestbook Administrator's Comment: Hi Colin, Although I haven't read the article, I believe this was a typical comment. Even today the response is the same, as all RV8 owners will agree. Regards Jim

Comments: I currently share a swept wing J Midget and have a late "B" waiting patiently for the 215 sitting beside it to hop into the engine bay. May never get around to it...but keep hoping.
THOROUGHLY enjoyed your site. Extremely well done, tasteful, informative....but ultimately DISSSAPPOINTING. Why, you ask? Because now I know there are fewer than 100 LHD RV8 (I assume all Euro exports were RHD) and my dear wife will not drive RHD. We can bring in 15yr+ anything to Canada, and this is one of the cars on my list (if I can ever find one).
Guestbook Administrator's Comment: Hi Pat, Thank you for your initial comment however you have been misinformed the RV8 was never produced in LHD. It was a very limited production run and only intended for the UK market. However because it was so expensive sales were not good on the home market and the venture was saved by the Japanese market, who at the time had money to burn. ( the Japanese have RHD vehicles and no modification was necessary ) A very samll number of RV8's have been converted to LHD by private owners. These conversions were extremely expensive as the items needed were all one off items and this has deterred any further LHD conversions. Yes all European RV8s are RHD except for a very small number of Private conversions. Jim Dolbel

Comments: A really nice and informative web site. Looking for an RV8 and in the process of selling a TR5. Wanted something slightly more modern. In my relative youth had a V8GT and loved it until children changed all that but always wanted a soft top. There weren't many Costellos about then.
Guestbook Administrator's Comment: The UK is certainly the right place to be when buying an RV8, As well as a much larger choice you have excellent back up for service and spares. The UK V8 Register has numerous RV8 For Sale listings and is an excellent starting point.

Comments: The reason why I was searching.
I am looking at purchasing a MG R V8 and your website has gven me a great insite into the reasons why I should continue.
Cheers Robin Brown
Guestbook Administrator's Comment: Hello Robin, Glad the website was able to help. Thankfully the RV8 situation in New Zealand has improved greatly with the recent overturn of import rules concerning RV8's. I have recently been informed by a reliable source. It is now possible to get special interest vehicles into your conutry on a permit to import and register for use on NZ roads. Although the importation is on a case by case basis, it is a far better situation than the previous total ban. Regards Jim Dolbel

Comments: Hallo All,
this is a beautiful site. I have bought a crashed RV8 here in Germany and decidet to rebuild it. But all the parts I need for the rebuild together are too expensive. So I decidet to sell it in parts for other RV8 drivers to keep their cars on the road. The complete car has 27.000 KM and it in excellent shape bevore the crash. I couldnt find the place on this site where I can offer parts.
Kind regards
Jrgen
Guestbook Administrator's Comment: Hello Jurgen, Yes, RV8 spare parts are expensive and for this reason a few badly damaged RV8s have been scraped for spare parts. Unfortunately on my website I only advertise roadworthy RV8s. May I suggest the UK V8 Register ( www.v8register.net ) as a possible alternative to advertise your spare parts. Good luck with our sale and hopefully you will make a profit. Best Regards Jim

Comments: An excellent site which resulted in me purchasing an RV8 in Japan. Now have to endure the wait for delivery and compliance. I am a long term member of the MGCC of and currently own a 1967 MGB and 1969 Midget.
Guestbook Administrator's Comment: Hello Bob, Thank you for making contact, hopefully the waiting will pass quickly and you will soon be enjoying your RV8. Yes, long term MG owners seem to be prevalent among RV8 Owners and I hope the tradition will continue. (I have also owned 5 MGB's and 1 MGBGT before the RV8 bug bit me). Keep in touch and let me know when your car arrives.

Comments: I am currently thinking of "dumping" my MG ARKLEY and buying an RV8. Are there anny good MG specialist around the south of England who you would recomend and who may be interested in the ARKLEY.
Guestbook Administrator's Comment: Hi Paul, As you probably realise I'm based in Australia and although I have numerous contacts in the UK, I recommend you make contact with the V8 Register in the UK. The register is run by MGV8 enthusiasts who are better suited to advising you of contacts in the south of England. Good luck with your inquiry and hopefully we will see you in an RV8 soon.

Comments: I've now completed the restoration of my MG RV8 from the hurricane damage done by Ivan. The car is looking and driving great. However, the cockpit heat is almost unbearable on a hot day, possibly heat transfer from the engine bay and trans. Do any of the owners of factory built, (unrestored) RV8's have this problem? [email protected]
Guestbook Administrator's Comment: Hi Tom, It was so pleasing to see the restoration is now complete and your car is on American roads. Re the cockpit heat is usually caused by the catalytic converters positioned directly under the cockpit. To help reduce the heat from the cats, heat shields were included around the converters and between the converters and the floor of the vehicle. Did you refit the heat shields as part of your restoration ? , without the shields the heat will certainly be reflected into the floor of the cockpit. In addition some other members have also included the fitting of extra insulation under the carpets. The heater control valve is also known to cause problems on occasions when not completely closing thus directing hot air into the foot wells. This usually involves an adjustment to the operating cable or valve replacement. Hope the above helps with your situation.

Comments: Great website for all MGB lovers. Why is it that the RV8 is never mentioned in the Rover MG line up of cars. After all the RV8 was the start of the rebirth of MG cars as a true sports car. I have converted my 77 "B" into Rover V8 with 5 speed gearbox but would like to give it the RV8 look. Will have to get together with the 2 other RV8 owners here in the USA.
Guestbook Administrator's Comment: The RV8 was a means of reintroducing the MG name to the public after a laps of 20 years and the then owner Rover wanted something special for that purpose, hence the RV8. As you probably reaise there were only 2000 units produced in a very limited production run which is why the RV8 is so exclusive. Converting your MGB to an RV8 look a like can be done once the necessary parts/panels have been sourced but these are becoming scarce and expensive. Probably the best avenue to secure the necessary parts is from vehicle breakers/wreckers such as the pair of RV8's currently advertised in Wales. Contact Mark Herman Email :- [email protected]

Comments: G'day
I am now the proud of RV8 No1183 It is my 3rd MG and is the most fun car I have owned I am having trouble finding an uprated set of shocks for my car in aussie,my supplier suggested I track down the original shock part numbers in order to match the new shocks for extended length and bush sizes etc. I hope this may reach someone who can help with my dilema.
I love the site, as it is good to read other peoples comments on their cars
Guestbook Administrator's Comment: Hello Colin, Welcome to RV8 ownership. Have you contacted Stuart Radcliffe at RV8 Cars re the shock absorbers. Stuart has uprated shocks for the RV8. His contacts are (02) 9637 6204 Email:- [email protected] Best Regards Jim Dolbel
